Aquatic life-saving projects can never be overemphasized in a natural water environment like Lagos, hence, many contradictions and expectations surround the learning of swimming as a survival skill and Aquatics life-saving training personnel as Life Guards.

LAGOS OPEN WATER SWIMMING MARATHON 2023

LONG DISTANCE SWIMMING TOWARDS 2028 OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION

Lagos Open Water Swimming Marathon held on 2nd December 2023. The event was a huge success, with more than 100 participants taking part in the marathon.

The marathon took place in the beautiful open waters of Lagos and was a true test of endurance, strength, and skill. The swimmers had to navigate through the chall

enging conditions of open water, including strong currents and waves, making it an exhilarating experience for both the participants and spectators alike.

Apart from the thrill of competition, swimming in open water has numerous benefits for one’s health. Swimming is a low-impact exercise that is easy on the joints, making it a great option for people of all ages and fitness levels. It helps to improve cardiovascular health, build endurance, and strengthen muscles.

Swimming also has a positive impact on mental health, as it is a great way to relieve stress and improve overall well-being. Additionally, swimming in open water provides a unique connection with nature, which can help to reduce anxiety and promote a sense of calm.
