“The 2024 World Drowning Prevention Day Sensitization Campaign was a resounding success, with a well-attended event held at the Lagos Mainland axis, specifically along Awolowo Way, Ikeja, through Allen Junction, and ending at JJT Park. The campaign, organized by the Lagos State House of Assembly, Lagos State Safety Commission, and Global Sports Exclusive Promotion, brought together over 300 stakeholders in the aquatic industry, including representatives from NEMA, LASEMA, LASWA, LAGFERRY, LASMA, NSCDC, LNSC, RED CROSS, PASCAL and NYCN. The notion behind the walk is to sensitize the public about Drowning and advice them to Learn how to swim, also to eradicate drowning through training and re-training community safety lifeguards, certifying them with Lagos Operation Permit and Red Cross Certificate.
